Understanding Anxiety

Anxiety is the most common mental health condition, affecting approximately 20% of adults with moderate to severe symptoms. Women are statistically more likely than men to experience anxiety. While anxiety can look different for everyone, common symptoms include:

  • Excessive worry

  • Obsessive or intrusive thoughts

  • Irritability and restlessness

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Panic attacks

If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, you're not alone—and support is available. Therapy can help you better understand your anxiety and develop effective tools to manage it.

Panic Attacks

Panic attacks are a sudden escalation of anxious symptoms. The patient’s anxiety triggers a physical reaction that can include sweating, hyperventilation, and increased heart rate. Panic attacks are often treated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk-therapy that is used to treat anxiety and depression. In CBT, the therapist and the patient work together to separate the patient’s behaviors, emotions, and thought patterns.

TREATING PTSD WITH EMDR

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety that sometimes needs an alternative form of treatment, Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am certified in EMDR and able to use this treatment when it is appropriate.
