TREATING DEPRESSION WITH COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the most effective treatment for depression. In CBT, the therapist and patient work together to understand the patient's behaviors, emotion, and thoughts. This treatment yields optimal results when used on a weekly basis, however, every individual is unique. Some patients may need additional sessions if they are in crisis.
TREATING DEPRESSION WITH MEDICATION
The Journal of American Medicine Medication (JAMA) published a study in May of 2020 that suggested that regular talk therapy AND medication can lead to an 80.00% reduction in depressive symptoms. Many of my patients use medications and believe that they are helpful. However, not all individuals feel comfortable with this approach. While I do not prescribe medication, I assist my clients with the decision-making process. As your therapist, I will support you in whatever decision you make.
